The lists were provided to each DP in its billing folder. To unfreeze, DPs follow the process in CDSL communiqué CDSL/OPS/DP/SYSTM/2023/525 dated 5 September 2023. KRA status queries go to the respective KRA. The document does not say how long unfreezing takes once KYC is verified.

Who it applies to

  • Demat account holders (and joint holders) whose KYC is not on a KRA's system or is not verified
  • Depository Participants
  • Stockbrokers and advisers who handle investors' KYC

What to do

  1. Investors: check KYC status with a KRA and complete or correct it before 7 November 2026.
  2. DPs: contact the account holders on the list and freeze or follow up before the date; use the 2023 process to unfreeze once KYC is verified.
